Guildford College - Stoke Park Redevelopment

Guildford College is the largest education provider in Surrey, currently serving over 17,000 learners across the south east and beyond. The proposed ‘Pavilions in the Park’ design is a comprehensive redevelopment of the Stoke Park campus.

The philosophy for the £95m scheme is based on the concept of creating a family of learning pavilions placed along a central vibrant ‘pedestrian spine’ that groups the college’s facilities and departments. The pavilions are arranged orthogonally along the spine, closely integrating with the landscape framework and enabling the landscape to flow between buildings.

The orientation of the pavilions enables the college to interact with the community and showcase its offering. The west facades are framed creating an evolving window displaying the college. The spaces inside the ‘picture framed’ end will contain active functions, social spaces and satellite learning resource centres.

Planning permission for the redevelopment was granted in December 2008.
