Phil Nedin
Phil Nedin is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Director of Arup who is a large global building engineering and management consultancy.
Phil's’ primary role is as the leader of the Arup global healthcare business which has over 2000 projects to its credit through its 63 offices. Phil is based in the Cardiff office where he is responsible for a team of over 30 building services engineers, the majority of their current workload is healthcare dominated.
Prior to joining Arup in 1988 Phil worked for 7 years in the North West Thames Regional Health Authority. Phil is involved in lecturing on the Architectural Engineering degree course in the University of Wales College Cardiff and in conjunction with the university course directors has developed for the past 4 years a multi-discipline final year project for the students which is healthcare based.
Phil is part of the DTI funded Modern Built Environment Knowledge Network Industrial Leaders Group and he is half way through his presidential term for the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estates Management (IHEEM). Phil has given keynote presentations on subjects such as infection control, engineering design, healthcare procurement and sustainable design in healthcare facilities.
