Sustainability Conference 2009
Nightingale Associates recently held its second Sustainability Conference, this time at the University of Liverpool, to coincide with the city marking 2009 as Liverpool’s Year of the Environment.
The event was aimed at raising awareness of the fundamental challenges we face in tackling climate change, and other Sustainability and Environmental design issues. The event emphasised the need to work in integrated design teams to find ways of reducing environmental impacts, improving energy efficiency, reducing lifecycle costs & refreshing our aim to incorporate good sustainable, passive design principles into the future built environment.
Topics covered included BREEAM, natural daylighting of education buildings, building regulation Part L update 2010, building simulation software, research into zero carbon buildings and renewable energy technologies, plus a series of exemplar building type solutions that have successfully incorporated passive environmental design principles & clearly demonstrate the benefits of a holistic approach to sustainability.
Expert speakers presented a wide ranging programme of interrelated specialist subjects to an invited audience of client representatives, staff from our Liverpool and Rochdale studios & other key staff.
