Schools and Young
People's Learning
Nightingale Associates is actively designing primary, secondary and sixth form colleges throughout the UK.
We are proud to support the Government’s agenda to change the future of school design through initiatives such as Building Schools for the Future (BSF). As founding members of the British Council of School Environments (BCSE), we are engaging with bodies such as the Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF), Partnerships for Schools and Local Authority Children’s Services to ensure we are aware of current initiatives that can positively influence school design.
Working with a number of special schools and specialist colleges, we have fuelled a passion to create learning environments that optimise the potential of all learners - one which responds to individual learning needs. We are currently funding research into the receptiveness of children and young people to colour, light, sound, views, touch and smell. Our ambition is to establish a link between the emotional disposition of learners and their environment, enabling us to intelligently design a space which stimulates learning, achievement, engagement, motivation, behaviour and well-being.
