Middletown School, Ireland
This ‘Centre for Excellence for Autism’ is situated on a 20-acre site on the edge of the town of Middletown, close to the border between Monaghan and Armagh.
The centre will act as both an assessment and development centre for the most challenging cases of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping children with their education and daily development as well as providing training facilities for people working within this field.
The brief for this scheme has been carefully developed, testing adjacencies between activities and developing the internal layout and design of the building to ensure that the centre meets the needs of all its users including children attending the ASD assessment unit and separate short term residential development unit, staff and visitors.
