Fleetwood High School, Lancashire
Fleetwood High School, procured through the PFI process with Eric Wright Construction and for Lancashire County Council, enabled the issues of a complete new school to be considered.
The intention of the design was to provide the school with as much physical enclosed space as possible within the confines of the DCSF allowances and to enable any additional spaces to be flexible in use.
The solution developed provided the entire school facilities in a stand-alone building (addressing issues of the local climate) and provided additional covered spaces, which were for the school to develop as they saw best. These spaces have since been used by art departments and drama groups.
