Richard Harrington
Architect, Executive Chairman
Richard has been with Nightingale Associates since the practice started in 1987.
In his role of Executive Chairman, he is responsible for the strategic and business development of the practice. From a background in the design of laboratories and research facilities including an observatory and research base on the summit of Mount Mauna Kea, Hawaii USA, Richard has developed considerable expertise in the design of healthcare and educational facilities.
At Nightingale Associates, Richard has played a pivotal role in many significant projects, including the Coventry New Hospitals Project – which at the time was one of the largest ever PFI projects – Walsall’s Manor Hospital, and Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital. Richard is actively involved in shaping design guidance and policy and has been a member of the Department of Health Design Review Panel since it was established.
