The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool
The Walker Gallery forms part of National Museums Liverpool main city centre attractions. Set within a complex of Grade II listed buildings the project consisted of a full refurbishment of the extensive lobby areas including new lighting, marble cleaning and a return to the original colour scheme.
Further to this a new lightweight “over roof” was provided to the existing flat roof area above the foyer. The planning process involved extensive discussions with the Gallery Keeper and English Heritage and included working closely with historians, specialist craftsmen and state of the art lighting designers. Working closely with the gallery curators and building contractor the gallery remained open throughout the period of works.
