Bournemouth Executive Business Centre receives official opening
13 October 2009
Nightingale Associates’ Bournemouth University (BU) Executive Business Centre has been officially opened by Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, and Chancellor-Designate of BU.
The 5440msq centre, part of Bournemouth University’s Business School, is located at the centre of the city’s commercial district and housed in a newly-completed seven-storey office development. The new teaching accommodation features Harvard-style lecture theatres and a selection of various-sized fully-glazed flexible seminar spaces.

The remaining floor space is given over to social learning where small groups of students can use the latest IT facilities, including Technopods and LCD smart boards to produce and practice presentations. In addition, there is a modern Learning Resources Centre and a main reception area with coffee shop and restaurant.
“Our aim was to create a stylish yet functional space that uses technology in both a social and academic environment to aid learning and inspire all those who use the facility.”
Glenn Turner, Lead Architect, Nightingale Associates

The £2m Executive Business Centre is intended to raise the profile of the school within the local business community as well as being a hub for the exchange of ideas nationally. Leading academics in the field of law, economics, business and finance will continue to develop cutting-edge research within the facility.
“Many of those who go out into the world of business in the future will have had the benefit of studying in this magnificent state-of-the-art Executive Business Centre”
Lord Phillips, during his opening speech

Nearly 100 people, including the region’s top business people, dignitaries and BU board members, attended the opening ceremony to celebrate the building’s completion and tour its new facilities.
