First images of £5m International Women's Enterprise Centre in Liverpool
01 September 2009
Earlier this year, Nightingale Associates secured a contract to design the £5m Women’s International Centre for Economic Development (WICED), to be situated in Liverpool’s city centre.
The project has now taken a significant step forward, as the design team completes the first concept images showing what the building will look like.
The 2,000sqm centre, which will be located in the heart of Liverpool, will be the first of its kind in the UK and is expected to help 3,000 women set up businesses, creating 4,500 new jobs over the next ten years. The project team is now awaiting a planning decision, expected to be made on 9th November 2009.
“We are delighted to be playing a part in creating a bespoke building that will have such a positive impact on so many women starting businesses; it is an exciting project to be working on, which also has a prestigious position in Liverpool’s city centre. We’re looking forward to hearing a decision with regards to planning, and are on schedule for construction to start in January.”

The new-build project, expected to reach completion in late 2010, will contain a range of offices, training & conference facilities and incubator space for new businesses. It is being jointly-funded by WICED, the North West Development Agency, Future Builders, Train 2000, Liverpool Vision, and Liverpool Council.
