A Royal Occasion for Accrington

27 March 2008

Accrington Pals Primary Health Care Centre was opened by Prince Edward earlier this month, as he toured East Lancashire to visit local regeneration ventures.

Designed by our Liverpool office, the £9m project is one of the many developments procured under the East Lancashire Building Partnership LIFT). The scheme involved the redevelopment of a textile mill complex to house the new build 4 storey health centre and a 2 storey dental education centre.

Local residents gathered to greet the Prince as he proceeded to view the new building and its countless facilities including; pharmacy, patient advice & liaison, healthy lifestyles team, mobile medical unit, GP practice, training suite, fitness suite, physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, retinal screening, musculoskeletal, diabetic and outreach graduate training facilities.

Described by the Mayor of Hyndburn, Tony Dobson, as a ‘marvellous amenity’, the new centre provides a much needed boost to the community. In addition, it acts as a commemorative feature within the heart of Accrington.  Named after the 11th East Lancashire Service Battalion, the building honours local heroes of the First World War.
