Exeter is Architect of Choice for Yeovil

06 May 2008

Our Exeter office has won a significant commission to master plan the redevelopment of Yeovil District Hospital.

Against some major players in Health Architecture, the Exeter team impressed the NHS Foundation Trust by offering the wealth of knowledge and innovation of a national practice, through the personal approach of a local studio.

The Trust’s vision is to transform this 1960’s 450 bed hospital into a state of the art healing environment by a combination of new build and refurbishments, whilst maintaining the facility as a fully functioning hospital during the process.

The Exeter team will be producing a Development Control Plan which will explore a range of options for the complete redevelopment of the site over 10 years. In this modern world of greatly improved patient environments, including 100% single bedrooms and facilities designed to aid the healing process, Yeovil fall woefully behind, with cost and ‘functionality’ as the priority.

Exeter has an excellent opportunity to greatly improve the Trust’s estate, and as our designs develop there is the potential for further projects to emerge, helping to ensure Yeovil District Hospital become a long term client for Nightingale Associates.
