New office in Cape Town opens
11 July 2004
Architects Nightingale Associates opened their first international office in Cape Town, South Africa on July 1.
The new office, headed by executive director Matt Audinwood, will function as the firm’s “Engine Room”, where Nightingales will outsource its production drawings for a fast, high quality turnaround. This service will be available to all six offices in the UK and also to other architects who lack full production capacity to deliver on major projects, particularly fast-track PFI's, where Nightingales have a successful and award winning track record.
A key feature of Nightingales new Engine Room is that it is headed by strong designers who will maintain and enhance design intentions as an integrated part of the production information process. The new Cape Town office also aims to establish its own design presence in South Africa , working in partnership with local architects in the key sectors of health, science, education, residential and regeneration. The office aims to grow to 20 staff within a year, providing important local employment for key professionals. It has already attracted a number of highly skilled local South African technicians and architects.
“We hope to foster excellent relationships with local and international clients alike. We would like to be involved in the ANC's new healthcare programme and will be pitching for healthcare facilities as part of the 2010 World Cup arrangements.”
Mike Nightingale, Chairman, Nightingale Associates
