'Design Heals' guru appointed
29 January 2002
Richard Mazuch has joined Nightingale Associates as practice design consultant.
Well known for his work in health planning and design, Richard has been involved in groundbreaking "design heals" research. He has assisted the Treasury Taskforce in producing a key seminal design guidelines document (How to Achieve Design Quality in PFI projects) which looks at a range of design issues, from the psychological and physiological effects of colour, noise and light on patients to therapeutic environments, and which has led to new NHS guidelines. Richard will be applying his wide experience in his new role at Nightingale Associates, as well as undertaking further research. His work features regularly in the design and architectural press.
Richard is no stranger to the practice. He has worked in the past with senior partner Mike Nightingale and partners David Clarke and Terry Sullivan on a number of projects, including the Royal Hospital, Oman; and Colchester General Hospital more than 15 years ago.
