Modern hospice for Oxford

11 July 2001

A new hospice has been designed in Oxford by architects Nightingale Associates to create a home from home for terminally ill patients.

Sobell House Hospice will provide modern hospital facilities within a supportive and comfortable environment. Architects Yolande Wyer and Christina Tegalo have worked closely with staff in drawing up the plans for the modern hospice, which will be situated next to the existing Sir Michael Sobell House on the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals site.

“The architects have been very responsive and are being very creative. We certainly want something which has atmosphere but we must also have a hospice which works well practically.”

Patricia Scott, Senior Nurse

The £3.5m building starts on site this autumn.
