Fitting it all into place at Jigsaw

23 October 2000

Oxford architects Nightingale Associates are all the fashion at Jigsaw. The practice has just won a heritage award for its work on the designer retail chain's shop in Oxford's High Street.

The Oxford Preservation Trust gave its award to project architect Rowland Phillips for his contribution to the conservation and preservation of Oxford's heritage. Rowland earned praise for his sensitive refurbishment of the Grade 2, 18th century listed building, which required careful negotiations with local planners.

Rowland was Nightingale's resident architect on loan to Jigsaw for two years. He worked alongside the company's own interior designers on the design of new stores, the refurbishment of existing ones and the design and detailing of furniture, fixtures and fittings.

Nightingale Associates, who have their headquarters in Harwell, Oxfordshire, have worked on more than 30 stores for Jigsaw, both in the UK and abroad. Completed projects include major flagship shops in London at Westbourne Grove, Argylle Street and Fulham Road as well as stores in Cambridge, Bristol, Glasgow and Japan.
