Research focus on topical issues

Architect Nightingale Associates has set up a specialist health planning group within the practice. Headed by partner David Clarke, the team aims to provide a cutting edge perspective on changes affecting the NHS.

Research topics currently being studied include new methods of procurement and sustainability. Nightingale Associates aims to put ideas into practice by engaging in research projects within the healthcare field, as well as within the practice itself.

“New methods of procurement and clinical practice, coupled with government drives for quality, call for an efficient and informed response from those delivering healthcare and its environment.

“We are already involved in a number of key areas, and are voicing our views at a series of NHS Estates forums. Areas of interest for us are currently Procure 21, briefing policy and quality control.”

The practice has also formed a series of five design studios, as an extension of its customer-led approach to design. Each 'practice within the practice' is led by a partner and handles its own projects directly, from design to resourcing. The aim is to give clients a more individually managed service within the support framework of the larger firm.
