The new building provides 25 single en-suite bedrooms on each of two in-patient ward floors. In between these floors is a new Critical Care Unit with direct links to hospital theatres.
The CCU comprises six ITU beds in glazed rooms, seven High Dependancy beds and eight Cardiac Recovery beds. All in-patient areas have direct links to the existing multi-bed bay accommodation and the main hospital.
A new lower level on the sloping site is used for a Day Unit and Catheter Laboratories. The top floor provides staff accommodation and plant rooms. Research facilities for Oxford University are provided in the existing building adjacent to the CCU.
